Makassar, Maros, Toraja
Arrive at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar. Afterwards, drive approximately 30 minutes to Rammang-Rammang in the Maros Regency. Take a boat and explore the magnificent views of the 3rd largest karst forest in the world. Continue your trip to the north and lunch will be served at Restaurant near Pare-Pare, a small port situated 155 kms north of Makassar. Enjoy afternoon coffee or tea with spectacular view of Bambapuang Mountain before you arrive in Toraja. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Rantepao, Toraja.
Toraja
After breakfast at hotel. A full day exploring Toraja Land, A statue of Jesus Christ at Makale in Tana Toraja Regency. It is the tallest statue of Jesus Christ in the world - with its height at 40 metres. It stands on the top of BUNTU BURAKE hill about 1.100 metres above sea level. Continue to visiting the cliff-side stone grave with wooden effigies on the balcony at LEMO, then continue to LONDA to visit coffins hang from cracks in the rocky face. Lifelike wooden sculptures or effigies complete with clothes, stand in neat rows in cracks hollowed out in the cliff faces, very much like the windows & balconies of a house. Lunch will be served at local restaurant. After Lunch, visiting the traditional wooden carving village at KETE KESU. Late afternoon back to hotel for your overnight stay and dinner.
Toraja Excursion
Wake up early to catch the beautiful sunrise at LOLAI, then back to hotel for showering and breakfast. After breakfast at hotel. The second fullday excursion, visit the traditional cotton weaving village at SA’DAN. The ancient megalithic stones in BORI and then proceed to SESEAN mount to view the large-ricefield terraces at BATUTUMONGA. Lunch will be served on this spot. After Lunch, continue to visit the boulder grave at LOKO' MATA', then take a nature-walk (an easy walk) through the rice-field and find some local tribes activities along the way down to the village and later on, you will be picked up by our driver and transfer back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Note : A traditional funeral ceremony which can be reached by foot will be included within these two days tours. A typical Torajan local fruits and LIVESTOCK MARKET can also be visited.
Toraja, Sengkang (Lake Tempe)
After breakfast at the hotel, depart Toraja Land for Sengkang via Enrekang and Sidrap, enjoying scenic countryside views along the way. Lunch will be served en route at a local restaurant. Upon arrival in Sengkang in the afternoon, continue directly to Lake Tempe. Here, you will experience local lakeside life, observing floating houses and traditional fishing activities as fishermen navigate their small boats across the lake. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere while learning about the daily routines of communities who depend on Lake Tempe for their livelihood. Later in the afternoon, return to the mainland for dinner, followed by hotel check-in and overnight stay in Sengkang.
Sengkang – Makassar | Silk Weaving & Departure
After breakfast at the hotel, visit the traditional silk weaving center of Sengkang, where you will witness local women hand-spinning and weaving authentic Bugis silk fabrics. Sengkang is renowned as South Sulawesi’s silk capital, producing beautiful sarongs and garments through generations-old techniques. After the visit, begin your journey back to Makassar. Lunch will be served en route at a local restaurant. Upon arrival in Makassar, you will be transferred directly to Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport for your onward flight (noon flight).
