Day 1 | Arrive in Jakarta
Meet your guide and driver at the airport for a private transfer to your hotel in central Jakarta. A welcome lunch is arranged at the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure after your international journey.
A private 22-day journey from Jakarta through Java’s historic cities and volcanic landscapes to Bali’s highlands, northern reefs and the quiet shores of Gili Air.
Trace Indonesia’s maritime and royal heritage, cross volcanic landscapes by road and rail, then continue to Bali for temple visits, forest walks, reef snorkeling and unhurried island time.
Begin in Jakarta, where historic harbours and civic landmarks introduce Indonesia’s layered past. Continue to Yogyakarta and Solo for royal architecture, batik, village life and the great temple complexes of Prambanan and Borobudur.
Across eastern Java, travel from Madakaripura Waterfall to the volcanic landscapes of Bromo and Kawah Ijen. A ferry crossing brings you to Bali, where the journey turns toward the island’s northern coast, forested highlands, sacred temples and terraced fields. Two nights on Gili Air offer time to slow down before a final evening in Jimbaran.
Every journey we create is designed with meticulous care, insider expertise, and an unwavering commitment to an exceptional experience.
This route brings together Jakarta, Central Java, the volcanic east and several distinct regions of Bali. Pacébo coordinates the private transfers, domestic flight and sea crossings so each change of region fits into one considered itinerary.
Meet Java through its ports, royal courts, village traditions and temple landscapes. In Bali, continue through sacred sites, highland communities, rice-growing regions and coastal life, with local guides to place each visit in context.
The itinerary combines cave visits, volcanic terrain, walking routes and marine excursions. Pacébo coordinates local guides and activity teams for these days and shares practical preparation details before departure.
Early starts for Bromo and Ijen are balanced with slower stays in Pemuteran, Ubud and Gili Air. The journey leaves room for both active exploration and time to rest.
Volcanic access, sea conditions and local transport schedules can affect the route. Pacébo reconfirms operations and helps arrange suitable alternatives when conditions require a change.
Meet your guide and driver at the airport for a private transfer to your hotel in central Jakarta. A welcome lunch is arranged at the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure after your international journey.
Discover several landmarks that reflect Jakarta’s history and religious diversity. Visit the National Monument, then continue to Istiqlal Mosque and the neighbouring Jakarta Cathedral. Later, explore the Chinatown district in Pantai Indah Kapuk. Return to your hotel for a free evening.
Visit Sunda Kelapa, Jakarta’s historic harbour, and see the traditional phinisi vessels. Continue to Kota Tua, with time around Fatahillah Square and the Jakarta History Museum. After an early lunch, transfer to the airport for your included domestic flight to Yogyakarta. On arrival, meet your local guide and driver for the transfer to your hotel.
Explore the Sultan’s Palace, or Kraton, and the former royal water garden of Taman Sari. Visit a batik workshop to learn about this enduring Javanese art. After lunch, continue to Prambanan, a remarkable Hindu temple complex. In the evening, enjoy dinner and a performance of the Ramayana Ballet with views of the temple.
Explore Candirejo village by bicycle or traditional cart, passing homes and small workshops. Learn about local activities and hear the gamelan, a traditional Javanese musical ensemble. After lunch in the village, visit Borobudur with your guide to explore its terraces and Buddhist reliefs. Return to Yogyakarta for a Javanese royal-style dinner at the hotel.
Travel into Gunungkidul to visit Goa Grengseng, a sacred cave used for meditation. Continue with an easy walk of approximately 45 minutes to an hour through the region’s limestone landscape, with views toward the coast. After lunch, visit Gua Maria Tritis, a cave chapel framed by stalactites and stalagmites.
Descend into Goa Jomblang by rope with the local cave team. The descent is approximately 50 metres, followed by a walk through the cavern toward a shaft of daylight. After lunch, visit the Nglanggeran volcanic landscape before continuing by road to Solo.
Visit Mangkunegaran Palace and explore one of Solo’s local markets. After lunch, travel through tea-growing highlands to Cetho and Sukuh, two distinctive temples set on the slopes of Mount Lawu. Return to Solo for the night.
Travel by executive-class train to Mojokerto, then continue by private vehicle to Madakaripura Waterfall. From the parking area, a short local motorcycle transfer and a walk through the stream lead to the falls. The path can be wet underfoot. Continue by road to your hotel near Bromo.
Set out before dawn by jeep to experience first light over the Bromo caldera. Visit a viewpoint and travel across the Sea of Sand, with access near the crater subject to current volcanic conditions. Return to the hotel for breakfast and time to refresh before the drive to Kalibaru, with a lunch stop along the way.
Walk through a plantation growing coffee and spices, with time to sample traditional cakes. Continue to Muncar, an active fishing harbour on Java’s eastern coast, before travelling inland to Licin.
Depart around 1:00 am for the guided hike at Kawah Ijen. The route climbs approximately three kilometres to the crater area. A descent into the crater to seek the blue fire is possible only when access and conditions are considered safe; sightings are not guaranteed. Return to the hotel for breakfast and time to refresh, then cross the Bali Strait by ferry and continue to Pemuteran.
Take a private boat to Menjangan Island in West Bali National Park for snorkeling at two sites. Enjoy a picnic lunch during the outing, then return to your hotel in the afternoon.
Set out early for a boat excursion off Lovina, where dolphins may be seen in the wild. Sightings are not guaranteed, and viewing depends on sea conditions. Continue to Brahmavihara-Arama and the nearby hot springs. After lunch, walk through clove-growing countryside to two waterfalls before arriving in Munduk.
Walk for approximately 1½ to 2 hours through forest near Lake Tamblingan, followed by a traditional canoe crossing. Visit Ulun Danu Bratan, the lakeside temple, then stop for lunch overlooking the rice fields. Continue to Jatiluwih for a walk among its terraced landscapes before travelling to Ubud.
Choose between a 90-minute Balinese massage or a two-hour rafting excursion on the Ayung River. After lunch, explore Ubud and visit the Monkey Forest. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Visit the royal tombs of Gunung Kawi and the sacred springs of Tirta Empul. Continue to Kintamani for lunch overlooking Lake Batur and the surrounding volcanic landscape. Later, visit Besakih, Bali’s principal temple complex, before travelling to Sidemen.
Begin with a walk through the rice fields around Sidemen. Continue to Kertha Gosa, the historic pavilion of justice in Klungkung, then visit Goa Lawah temple and the traditional salt-making area of Kusamba. Arrive in Padangbai, where your guide will brief you on the next day’s boat transfer.
Check in for the fast boat and cross to Gili Air. On arrival, walk to your accommodation or arrange local island transport. The afternoon is free. No guide or vehicle is provided on the island.
Enjoy a free day to swim, snorkel, explore the island or simply relax. Meals and activities are at your own arrangement. No guide or vehicle is provided.
Return to Bali by fast boat and meet your private driver at Padangbai for the transfer to Jimbaran. Visit the local fish market before a farewell dinner by the beach. Later that evening, transfer to Denpasar Airport for your international departure after midnight.
Your journey concludes with your international departure from Denpasar. The airport transfer is scheduled for the evening of Day 21, ahead of the after-midnight flight.
