About Us

Our Story

Pacébo was born from a deep fascination with Indonesia’s cultural frontiers: places where enduring traditions, sacred landscapes, and living communities continue to shape the archipelago.

Our name reflects the regions that first defined our journey:

Pa — Papua
Cé — Célèbes / Sulawesi
Bo — Borneo / Kalimantan

For many travellers, these regions remained distant and little known. For us, they became a calling.

We are a dedicated team of travel professionals, field operators, guides, and cultural interpreters. Together, we design journeys into Indonesia’s remote and meaningful destinations. Our work is valued by international tour wholesalers, travel partners, documentary filmmakers, researchers, anthropologists, and travellers seeking more than a conventional tour.

At Pacébo Tours, our executives and co-owners remain closely involved in both daily operations and fieldwork. This hands-on approach helps us plan each journey with care, operate it precisely, and give every guest personal attention.

We create classic journeys and special-interest expeditions that invite travellers to experience Indonesia through its landscapes, cultures, customs, and traditional ways of life. Our programs range from cultural journeys and anthropological research support to documentary film arrangements, butterfly, python, and orchid research support, birdwatching, nature studies, scuba diving, fishing, island-hopping, cycling, hiking, and expedition-style discovery.

From the highlands of Toraja and the longhouses of Kalimantan to the Baliem Valley and the Asmat lands of Papua, our journeys reveal Indonesia with depth, respect, and authenticity.

A Legacy of Exploration

“I have been personally involved in inbound tourism in Indonesia since 1974. I began as a porter and continued my path as a guide, consultant, adviser, and manager. Over the years, I have had the privilege of helping pioneer travel to some of Indonesia’s most remote regions.

These journeys have brought travellers closer to the Torajan people of Sulawesi, the Dayak communities of Kalimantan, and the Dani, Yali, and Asmat cultures of Papua.

Pacébo Tours was created to share these extraordinary places with care, knowledge, and responsibility. Our programs may include cultural encounters, anthropological research support, documentary film arrangements, butterfly, python, and orchid research support, birdwatching, nature studies, and expedition-style discovery. Throughout, we remain committed to guest satisfaction and respect for the communities we visit.

We invite you to discover Indonesia with us — beyond the familiar and the expected, among the living cultures, landscapes, and natural wonders that continue to inspire our work.”
