Walk from Sogokmo towards Kurima with your local guide, following the Baliem River through cultivated hillsides, sweet-potato gardens and Dani settlements. Cross suspension bridges where conditions allow and pause for a picnic amid the valley scenery. The route is adapted to trail conditions, weather and your pace.

Meet Dani hosts around Jiwika and discover honai houses, village crafts and the traditions of the northern valley. With the custodial family’s permission, learn about a preserved ancestral mummy and the heritage it represents. A hosted programme of dance, traditional skills and bakar batu hot-stone cooking may be arranged in advance with the community.
Explore Wamena’s market, where produce from surrounding villages offers a glimpse of everyday highland life. Continue to the Napua hills for views across the valley, then pause for locally grown Papuan coffee. If time allows, visit the suspension-bridge area around Wesaput or Sinakma before returning to your hotel.

Wamena lies at approximately 1,600 metres above sea level. Mornings and evenings can be cool, while weather in the highlands may change quickly. Light layers, sun protection and a lightweight rain jacket are recommended.
The journey includes a moderate walk of approximately 3–4 hours through cultivated hillsides, village paths and sections near the Baliem River. Trail conditions and suspension-bridge crossings may vary, and the route will be adapted to the weather, local conditions and your walking pace.
Village visits are arranged with respect for local communities. Access to ancestral sites, traditional dances, bakar batu cooking and other cultural experiences depends on community availability and, where appropriate, the permission of local families or custodians.
The Baliem Valley is reached by air through Wamena. Domestic flight schedules and local arrangements are reconfirmed before travel, and the programme may be adjusted when necessary to accommodate operational or local conditions.
